According to the records, in this building, there was a public fountain, known as «Fonte da Rua de Cedofeita». The fountain was incorporated in the building that, since 1855, housed the Von Hafe Schule school, predecessor of the current German College. The School operated here until 1901. It is believed that after that date, a hotel under the name of “Pension La Fontaine” operated in the building.

There are no records of when the fountain was removed, it is currently in the gardens of the Water Company – Águas do Porto.

The building has trapezoidal shape, groundfloor, three floors and a last floor that takes advantage of the slope of the irregular roof.

The solution provided only slight changes to the exterior. The building was intended to have a flexible character, with flexible rooms leaving ample functionally indefinite spaces.
